He stood at Lavington Stud for twelve years before being sent to New Zealand as a gift to friends by his then-owner, Lord Woolavington's daughter Catherine MacDonald-Buchanan, who had inherited the horse on her father's death five years earlier. Coronach was the first Derby winner to be exported to New Zealand and stood at Cranleigh Stud, Wanganui. He died in November 1949.
