| Owner: Francis Morris (NY) Breeder: Mr. C. C. Fulke Greville
1857: Won Clearwell Stakes
1858: Won Hampton Court Sales Stakes 3 (at Newmarket), Biennial Stakes (at Ascot), Newmarket Stakes (dead heat with Beadsman)
Bred by Mr. Greville and sold to a Mr Howard, for whom he raced well as a 2 & 3yo. Sold privately to Richard Ten Broeck in the autumn of 1858, in whose colors he raced twice. He did not stand training in 1859 and was sent to USA to stand at stud. His first season, 1860, he stood on Long Island, but was sent to Kentucky in 1861. However, the Civil War intervened, and after two seasons (during which he covered few mares), he returned North to New Jersey. As the result of litigation between Ten Broeck and francis Morris, he became the property of Morris and moved to New York, where he stood at Morris' farm near Throg's Neck, NY, until his death in 1878. Said to have killed two or more grooms after his importation and was fed through holes he had kicked in the walls of his stall. Stood about 15.2 hands and said to be an extremely handsome specimen.
