Purchased for $760 from the 1870 Woodburn yearling sale by A. G. Herr as agent for M. A. Littell. Set NWR for 4 miles as a 4yo at Saratoga.

at 4, he won a purse a Long Branch, NJ (4 miles in 7.43), then was
second to Vandalite in a race at Long Branch (2 mile heats) and third in
a race at Saratoga (3 mile heats) to Springbok and Preakness. In a 1 1/2
mile "dash" at Saratoga dash he defeated Katie Pease, and Wanderer, then
was second to Wanderer at 2.25 miles (cup distance). At Saratoga on Aug
20, 1874, in a race versus Wanderer and Katie Pease, he set a new record
for 4 miles in 7.19 ½, breaking Lexington's record.
At stud, he got a few stakes winners including Free Mason, La Sylphide,
and Lady Reel. His only long term influence is through Lady Reel's son
Hamburg, although she also got Hamburg's SW brother Frankfort and a
stakes winning half-sister Amanda V. La Syphide produced SW Semper
Fidele. Fellowcraft's daughter Lady Crafton produced the Latonia Derby
winner Hindoocraft. Another daughter, Handmaid produced stakes winner
Palmbearer.
