Re: Good Books for Racehorse Training
Two best books for anyone starting on their own without any experience are in my opinion: "Training Thoroughbred Horses" by Preston M. Burch; "Backyard Race Horse (The Training Manual)" by Janet Del Castillo with Lois Schwartz. Hope you can find them...its been awhile since I bou...

Re: Oakton Farms Morriston, Fl.
Again, we wonder why the public has a low regard for thoroughbred racing and ownership? Let me take you on a journey! I buy a lifetime breeding to "Suns Out Guns Out" an Empire Maker Stallion, from Hand Ride Stables in Ohio, which I have a contract which gives all of the conditions as how ...
Hm I'm thinking since it's a Canter West Virginia listing that she might be in West Virginia - or could be up at Mountaineer or that area?
I like to know specific location not just WV the state!

Re: Famous Racehorses in the 20th Century
I agree that "Bold Forbes" has to be in the conversation of great 20th Century Horses! I was fortunate to own a daughter of his, and she was the start of me getting into racing and breeding. Got to see him along with up close touching Secretariat, Sham, Affirmed, Slew, etc..

If you are going to Lexington, Ramseys is the place to go for great "FOOD" . Doesn't look like much, but anyone in horses knows of it. Sounds like a great weekend! It's on Harrodsberg Rd. There are so many things to see and do. Keeneland Racecourse.

Re: Looking for a trainer at Mountaineer
I haven't raced at the Mountain for about two years, but I had a good trainer that worked with me on training the horses etc. ($10/day; 50% of Purse $; I furnished the hay, feed, supplements, and vet) The trainer was good and we could stay in the owner racing, but if the horses didn't have it anymor...

Re: Sept. Yrlg Sale @Keeneland
You don't play this game having short pockets even if you breed to race. I have tried since 1992 and everyday something happens that requires more $$. That being said, I have never had more enjoyment breeding, raising, racing the horses that we have owned. No stakes, allowance winners, but we run fo...
