Since the removal from the synth many horses have been dying at SA. The same counts last yr for the downhill turf course. It seems to be overloaden with races.

Louis, the breakdowns in Cal were down last yr, only Del Mar was up thanks to the troubles with the new turf track earlier last yr. Out of competion tests are up and the punishment for overages is some up. improving tracks (slow them down) and tough penalties will do the trick, no doubt about that. ...

Aussies are speed freaks, even more than the US, but they do have some nice stayer races. 1 16 furlong race gr 1 the Melbourne Cup, the only handicaprace in the world on this level.

Louis, why are there are 0.68 breakdowns per 1000 sts in Australia and 3 times higher 1.95 per 1000 sts in the US?????????

Down Under, they race exclusively on turf (grass) and medication free. Even training is medication free, so soundness is created by enforcement and very harsh penalties.
