Re: buck in the X
How do you even derive the idea it's Buckpasser's X? Not for Love traces back, dam line, to Striking. So if passed by the dam on to the daughter, Buckpasser is not involved. Chase It Down, second dam of CC, could have gotten the "X" via Polish Numbers, if you believe he had it, via either ...

Re: Nasal Strip
According to a Bloodhorse article, http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/85161/can-chrome-wear-nasal-strip-in-belmont Sherman has asked to use one. It sounds like Sherman is just saying the "owners" may not race him, I haven't seen where Sherman said no. What I find very interest...

Re: Cali Chrome!!!
Carrying on with Joltman on the mare side, given that Love the Chase has Numbered account two times in her pedigree, in the 3x position, both sire and dam, is this what is powering a good deal of his talent? Love the Chase, according to what I've read, had a breathing problem, I guess, although I wo...

Re: buck in the X
Thank you, aethervox. I appreciate your take that this is your opinion, and the X gene is not yet, as far as I know, fact. I don’t doubt much that a large heart can help. I do doubt that all the other characteristics Haun mentioned necessarily go with it. Haun’s apparently increasing claims for what...

Re: buck in the X
Can anyone point me to scientific evidence, under peer review, that the X Factor is a reality? Not just observational anecdotes, not just opinion, but that there is a real gene passed on the X chromosome for a large heart? I was really excited when I first heard of this but watching all the claims b...

Infotainment TV. It has become the formula. It's even half of what used to be serious news anymore. Spoon fed to the public and an industry wondering why viewers are turned off. They feel they have to program everything to the lowest common denominator and that low point any more is frivolous interv...

Was it the distance or the going? Everything I've read says he's not raced on turf this soft before. If so, then with everything else that didn't happen according to plan, a remarkable race. If he had a good set up, could he get 1-1/2 miles? Is it out of his reach or out of reach of the perceptions ...

Sounds like Secretariat probably wasn't "clean" in the sense that he ran only using his physical gifts. My problem with Chenery is, don't go calling out O'Neil if your slate isn't perfectly clean. It doesn't matter what kind or strength they were back in Secretariat's day . Either the horse was a cl...

I'm not in O'Neil's camp or Chenery's, but I do have a question regarding Secretariat and what owners knew back in his day. Were steroids around when Secretariat was running and if so, what are the chances he got them? Maybe not on a par with other drugs, but still... Next, would Chenery necessarily...

I was told that Gold Digger had a club foot and passed it on. Can anyone confirm that? I know there are various theories out there about club feet. Had a Mr. Prospector decendant (Before I knew anything about Mr. P) that had a club foot although mild. Seems I've also seen a photo of Gold Digger with...

I don't think what you're seeing in most horses that appear long is a too long back. Supposedly, the ideal sport-type horse is rectangular. A short back and long legs would suggest a square. Perhaps the term "rangy" would apply. The horse "stands over a bit of ground," I think the term used to be. B...

Thanks for the replies. It didn't look to me like there was anything wrong with the horse, so I was wondering if California Flag was just one of those where you let them do their own thing, because he sure wasn't hurt by what he did. Since he did use both leads in the race, I don't think pref...
