BB vanned off

I figured his racing days might be numbered. He lugged in and fought the jockey in his most recent race. And he had been off a year between 3-4-year-old seasons. We'll see!

Spanish Guitar's new colt

My mare Spanish Guitar in Oklahoma delivered a bay colt on May 28. He's a son of Lucky Lionel, and is officially named Hot Hand . His yearling sister is Plucky, and his three-year-old gelded brother is Circus Train. His five-year-old half-bro by Eddington is Big Business, who races in New York, and ...

Big Business wins at Belmont again

I'm not sure why BB fought the rider so much, lugged in most of the way. I hope he's okay. He made it look easy despite that.

Diane, I haven't seen him since he was a yearling, but he is built like his mother, and she's 16'1'. He has her scope and big hip, and her competitive nature. I have to give some of the credit to his sire Eddington, who had the much better racing career. It's too bad Eddington doesn't match with a l...

Wilf, as a New York breeder for this foal, I get 15% of the purse for a win. Now my horses are registered OK-breds, as I'm corralling my expenses on travel and boarding. :)

Winner at Aqueduct today race 9

Big Business. son of Eddington o/o Spanish Guitar, won at $62,500 claiming, 7 furlongs, after a 100 day layoff. I guess he's well-rested, because he made it look easy. His earnings passed the $300,000 mark today. I own his dam and siblings.

Big Business entered at Aqueduct

I guess the long layoff since early January was just for R & R, because his workouts have been sporadic and short in the past month. He's entered at $62,500 claiming Saturday in a field of six: three are in for claiming, and three for open allowance. It's seven furlongs on the dirt, and he's pos...

Gate work adequate for Circus Train

The trainer says Circus Train has had one persistent problem: :? he's slow coming out of the gate. When he finally ran a good gate workout, he was entered to race this upcoming Tuesday; he was scheduled for another gate work today, to see if he's consistently  learning. Today he worked three f...

Circus Train's race

Circus Train had his first race at Will Rogers Downs yesterday, in a small field of relatively equivalent maidens special weight. Six of the seven were at 2/1 to 10/1 odds, and there was one long-shot only. Circus Train is a grand-looking large gelding with a lot of scope, and an easy temperament. U...

Entry for Circus Train

The trainer Clinton Stuart and I share ownership in Circus Train, and he's entered MSW at Will Rogers Downs on April 16th, Tuesday, race 8, six furlongs on the dirt. PP6/7, Garrett Steinberg up. Circus Train had the bullet work at 5f earlier this week, a full second faster than the other nineteen wo...

Readying to race, and update on other horses

I have only one horse of racing age now, and the three-year-old gelding should be entering soon at Will Rogers Downs, Claremore, OK. His name is Circus Train, son of Lucky Lionel out of Spanish Guitar by Birdonthewire. He has a full sister yearling and a full sib foal due in May. These three foals a...

Oh, so true! I would not have been financially able to pursue this colt's best career hopes. A Florida pinhooker named Danzel Brandemuehl took over his expenses after he RNA'ed at the 2009 August Saratoga sale, since she believed in him and thought him a good 2yo sales prospect. He is really a cool ...

Dublino, no offense taken. This horse was purchased for $115,000 by his current owner, and it is always a difficult decision what class race to start in, since the only other options are claiming races for less than purchase price, or a less difficult track in MSW company. I don't claim to know what...

Well worth watching!

I also have a thread running on the Stable Watch Forum about this race. My home-bred is the beautiful chestnut, in PP5--Big Business.
