Re: Who is the greatest producer of race horses?

Not sure I would say she was a great but Alidiva had 3 separate group one winners in the same year over here in Europe. In 1997 Taipan won the Europa Preis in Germany, Ali-Royal won the Sussex Stakes and Sleepytime won the 1000 Guineas which I would think is a pretty impressive achievement.

I'm just trying to remember if Aiden O'Brien has ever said that about any horse that he's trained before.

I've just backed Ocovango.

I think he's the best value bet at the current odds and i'd also love to see a Monsun colt win the Derby.

American St Leger

I've just noticed that it was the inaugural running of the American St Leger at the weekend.

Is there genuine interest for races like this in the US now or is it likely to be an interesting curiosity for a few years and then dropped from the card without much complaint?

To join in the discussion about Frankel's stud fee,

I don't think that us mere mortals (in terms of the bloodstock world) will know. I fully expect to see "private" listed against his name when he appears on the Juddmonte website.

... about 2012 English Triple Crown aspirant , CAMELOT (2009). Remember that the TC has not the importance in Europe as it has in the US. If Camelot thrives on, he will more likely compete in the 'Arc' than in the 'St. Leger' (=> Sea The Stars). All signs are suggesting that Camelot will go to the ...

This article has some interesting history about the foundations of racing going back to Eclipse as well as recent successes and challenges to Queen Elizabeth's racing enedeavors. Of note: "Neither does she have the same financial resources available to many of her chief competitors." DUH - how many...

The reason exclusive rights to broadcast the Derby are sold is the same as the reason they sell broadcast rights to any other sports evet.. it make money and the TV networks really are the experts on how to make money.. Although he only won by a short distance today hiss performance was exceptional in my opinion. Held up something like 8 to 10 lengths off the pace set in the early stages by the group on the stand side he travelled well before making smooth progress and coming to lead in the last 1/2 furlong and act...

I have always loved jumps racing but this year it has given itself two black eyes. Firstly there was the magnificent Kauto Star who has become a legend of the sport by virtue of his accomplishments and yet even though he had a hard fall in training over jumps leading up to the Cheltenham Gold Cup t...

No open handicap race in britain is ever rated above a grade 3. There are a few limited handicap races that are rated grade 2.

Kauto Star

I know this should probably go in the international racing thread but his victory today was awesome. To have won the same grade 1 race for the 4th time 6 years after he first did and at the age of 11 is simply awesome. It is why I love National Hunt racing more than flat as the same horses can come ...

Well its finally here and I've decided to put my money on Quinz.

Won a good race at Kempton on its last start and I'm just hoping it jumps well and can last the four and a half miles of the race

More news, the much awaited foal from Zarkava and STS has arrived.

Some bookmakers already offering 33/1 that it wins the 2014 Arc. Guessing they are trying to attract the odd mug punter.
