Re: American Pharoah wins triple crown :)

I see him shuttling into some nice turf mares overseas which will be very interesting. Pioneer of the Nile liked the artificial tracks and Empire Maker has had success at siring turf runners, and of course he has that Storm Cat in there. With his Northern Dancer, Mr. Prospector and Bold Ruler 5 back...

Awesome. The roar of the crowd was the highlight for me.

Thought I had adult onset dyslexia everytime I searched for him.

Re: American Pharoah

I hear ya Mac, I was skeptical too, but I think he has that Unbridled stamina (and his bunny ears).

Re: American Pharoah

First off, thank you Fred Hooper. I can't see that speedy dam side as a negative any longer. He is now a clear cut Derby favorite in a great Derby field. Gonna be a good one!

Re: Your Derby pick...month by month

I can see that big moose Dortmund grinding through the stretch to win it all. I usually automatically toss the UAE Derby winner but this year maybe not, especially with many of the U.S. contenders coming in so lightly raced.

Re: Curlin

Good post Mac. Worth noting Curlin has 12 nominated to the triple crown this year. Ocean Knight looked pretty good yesterday and his dam side ain't that great. He is at 35k because that is what the market is for him right now. Like Dublino I would be looking elsewhere for more value though. Thankful...

Black Onyx's stud fee

Black Onyx recently purchased at Keeneland for $7,500 will stand his first season at stud for $6,000. He is standing at Prestige Stallions, formerly known as Hall Marc Stallions, Woodford Something Or Other, and Stonewall Farm. If they find two suckers it will be all gravy from there.

My favorite new stallions for 2015

I think the just announced Atreides is a good bet. Super fast but never got a chance to reach the heights he was going to reach. His Indiana race was a toss, this guy was grade one all the way. Will get great support from Stonestreet and Hill N Dale so his foals will sell well too. In Maryland I lik...

Re: Horse of The Year

Apologies for my hyberbole regarding Main Sequence's win margins, actually a 1/2 length, two necks and a head, not exactly All Along like. Most interesting will be who the three finalists for HOY will be. Here is a tougher one, which candidate would you rather own NEXT year. Put aside breeding value...

Re: Horse of The Year

Kotashaan won 6 of 10 (would have been 7 of 10 had Desormoux not misjudged the finish in the Japan Cup) and set a course record. When winning the BC Turf he beat a top field. Main Sequence beat very mediocre horses by a nose in three of his four wins. Perhaps a closer comparison would be the filly A...

Re: Horse of The Year

There is 0% chance that California Chrome will not be named HOY, even if Shared Belief wins the Malibu. We can all debate who the best horse is though. Maybe Shared Belief or even Bayern will prove to be the better horse eventually, but for now 4 grade ones, (two classics) a grade two and a close th...

Re: Horse of The Year

Yes he will. It was a little padding on his resume. Made more sense to me to get a little turf experience than putting him on a plane to face the weak Clark field.
