Re: Problem is overbreeding....and irresponsibility

Problem is overbreeding....and irresponsibility Speaking of being irresponsible, a few years ago you were here making allegations of race-fixing where none existed. How does that measure on your scale of irresponsibility? If you cannot be part of the solution, then at least stop being part of the p...

All you have to do is google "furosemide bronchodilation" and you will come up with enough to keep you reading all day (links were listed in the previous post). Here are a couple: Furosemide is reported to reduce mucociliary clearance in humans and bronchodilation in ponies with recurrent airway obs...

40 percent of the horses finishing ‘in the money’ in the 25 time trial races for the Ruidoso Futurity & Derby on May 25 were illegally drugged - most with dermorphin (frog juice).

Just to make certain, Dennis Chavez is operator of Southwest Livestock Auction - Round Mountain is operated by Southwest Livestock Sale Company and that is not the same name. Are you sure of what you are saying or is it close enough to throw into the mix? Best I can find out Southwest Livestock Sal...

and, who knows what the reserves on those horses were and whether the Asmussens would have bought them back. I am with the description of "scum" for those that are trolling the kill buyer lots and pulling out horses for the publicity for their websites. According to the TX Dept. of Agriculture, Sou...

Nice post jellac. A lot of food for thought. I'll second that. Paulick and those like him that seem to derive pleasure for being part of the sycophant "caring" elite crowd, should be in court explaining why they should not be paying damages for their slurs. Madeline Paulson Pickens is another who w...

You guys are way off base. You have a broodmare and raise babies, you owe her. To "cull" her as you call it, by sending her off to a meat packing plant is immoral. Some of these mare were six years old for crying out loud. You should not be in the horse business. For a guy like Steve Asmussen, who ...

But to visit a website ostensibly devoted to the sport of racing -- and coming under a relentless heavy barrage of animal-rights activism -- doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Unfortunately that is what happens to all sites. Horse racing is evil to them and it must be demonized at every opportunity...

Someone who doesn't cull unproductive livestock is a poor businessman. Many people don't have the time or patience to suffer the fools encountered, to even give away an old or unproductive mare. Texas is suffering one of the greatest droughts in recent history. Hay is double and triple the normal pr...

Madelyn, I am surprised to hear you say that you do take sales prices into account but do NOT take RNA numers into account. Weanling and Yearling prices are mostly based on confirmation, the sires stud fee, and the success of siblings. Its very much a crap shoot. Look at the Green Monkey as was men...

casallc you and the others might be right with regard to horses offered as weanlings or yearlings. I should have been more specific. 2YO sales numbers mean alot. You don't takea horse to a 2YO sale and RNA it just for the heck of it. It is expensive to get a horse to one of those sales so you don't...

RNA means nothing, actual sale price means little more and stud fee has scant relevance. Top sellers normally NEVER return their purchase price. Anyone who would use marketing sales numbers to handicap is as clueless as those who still use dosage numbers. Think Green Monkey.

I see the opposite happening. I see that a nationwide lasix ban will ruin racing. But that is my humble opinion. winds You are entitled to your opinion - wrong as it may be. Until someone can answer why it is OK for a "bleeder" to get performance enhancing drugs and no one else, I'm calling BS on l...

Re: Out of steam in the stretch...

What would be the first thing that most trainers would consider for a maiden that runs out of stream in the stretch? She either ran out of conditioning or ran out of air. Most trainers are going to go with the later when in actuallity it is the former. If it was air they should have picked it up in...
