Re: I'm so mad I'm shaking

Interesting post! My take: 1. If Chrome had it in him to win--and I think he did, although some of the training was questionable to me, the heel bulb injury did him in. Horses never extend themselves with such an injury, and it's unknown to us how deep that gash was. Had to hurt and sting him every ...

Re: Who do you like?

I am not betting so I could care less about odds n such. I am rooting hard for California Chrome. What is not to like about this horse? Trainer was the the exercise rider for Derby winner Swaps, another bright chestnut. Chrome fittingly is from the same female family as Swaps. He has some great app...

Re: Who has "NO CHANCE" of winning the Derby

One thing's sure-- we always overlook something obvious in the PPs regarding the "winner" that we see post race in 20-20 hindsight. This being noted, CA Chrome as man among boys, possibly?

Re: well said...

http://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/shared_content.cfm?id=289 i once bought a good horse from Arthur Hancock. However, Arthur is so dead dead wrong about federal intervention. For you recently on the backstretch, is there really a serious drug problem: 1. legal drugs 2. illegal drugs ?????????????

only Q to me re PETA is what took 'em so long. My expectation has always been that they'd be demonstrating at the gates. Instead, undercover. One can look at Asmussen's drug board and see the drug abuse + when is RMTC going to do something about the dangerous thyroid meds, and when is a vet going to...

real pick six horror story: about 1984 was holding a $200 pick six ticket at Ak Sar Ben. I'd won the first 4 races and lost the ticket somewhere. After an hour rumaging through tickets on ground I found it in my wallet. won 5th. omg, although all the favorites won that day. Had favorite and long lon...

My vet sent out an email blast to clients - text version below: Will My Horse Freeze Tonight??? The short answer is NO! Your horse is uniquely designed to withstand much colder temperatures than we will have in Virginia tonight. Here are some things you can do to help your horse in cold temperature...

txs for response. they moderated our forecast a little. I always wonder at what temperature point blankets become appropriate. Mine in the past has been at about -2 degrees.

-9 Degrees Coming

What's too cold for an outside horse?
Any of u folks up north have a feel.
We're getting 0 degrees to -9 degrees here in KC for 48
straight hours with -20 to -30 degree wind chills.
At what temp. point must they have blankets.
Is this cold a danger to survival?

i've been a strong advocte of using any drug that helps a horse to breathe. If, one is unlucky enough e.g. to buy a heaver at a sale why should you be prevented from giving whatever meds that help that horse breathe normally? So, I was a little conflicted about clenbuterol. However, thinking it thro...
