I agree—seems obvious now, when looking at some of the more rangier Thoroughbreds.
Akhal-Tekes are so exotic and my dream horse breed. Their unique coats are amazing! I would love to own one if I lived somewhere other than wintery New England...

Thoroughbreds related to Akhal-Tekes?
Interesting!! :D https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-020-66232-1?fbclid=IwAR3Wm43WEfgun-Cf9TWEH8ThF8AGrXL1d0TdcoBgr7AxpbwStKZ7E1FjE-k Also, contrary to popular belief, we could detect no significant genomic contribution of the Arabian breed to the Thoroughbred racehorse, including Y chromosome an...

Turks and Chaos
Just me trolling the CANTER listings, LOL... this girl may warrant a look. She is listed with CANTER PA: https://canterusa.org/horses/listings/turks-and-chaos/ I don't have a current PQ subscription to really dig into her pedigree, but here it is: https://www.pedigreequery.com/turks+and+chaos She ra...

Re: Best Horses To Never Win A Stakes Race
Here's a variation—I just bought an old Bert Morgan photo of Correlation winning the Wood Memorial. One of a handful of horses favored to win the Ky Derby/Preakness/Belmont and didn't win any of the three races. Thought that was interesting!
Re: Derby
Fast forwarding ahead... what do you all think of the $20M challenge? I have mixed feelings... on one hand, it feels a little like sour grapes, but I get it. On the other hand, if they had a Derby “redo” race, it might be the thing that settles it. I dunno. :? And Bodexpress... glad no one was hurt ...
Re: Vekoma
Crazy that Omaha Beach is out. Tacitus is looking great in his workouts. I finally saw Vekoma, his paddling wasn’t as obvious. He looked alert and fit.
Re: Winwinwin
He's number 3 on Steve Haskin's latest derby picks and looked great during his Churchill workout.
Re: Vekoma
Admittedly, I haven't watched replays of his other races, but read this in Steve Haskin's Derby Dozen column: 8—Vekoma, George Weaver Candy Ride (ARG)—Mona de Momma, by Speightstown As mentioned last week, this colt is getting little respect for what he’s accomplished. Many are turned off by his act...
Vekoma
This horse has connections to New Hampshire (my home state), so I'm rooting for him. :D If you watched the Blue Grass Stakes, he had a "unique" way of running down the stretch. It was almost like he didn't know what to do, being out front: https://www.nbcsports.com/video/vekoma-wins-2019-b...

Re: Any thoughts on Santa Anita Debacle
I know, what is going on?? I've been trying to follow the TVG videos online. The ones I've watched have been about rule changes. Is the track footing bad? I'm sad for the horses who have been lost and hope this is resolved quickly...

Re: Black filly by Central Banker
Sorry... didn't realize I had a reply to this post! Here she is... she was lovely! I looked her up today, in Equibase—she's listed as dark bay or brown... hmmm. She is now called Broadway Angel. https://scontent-lga3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/39012963_2345436442151345_5483395741919477760_n.jpg?_nc_cat...

Just saw this pretty girl pop up in my Facebook feed. She's registered BLK in the database.

Re: failed sires
I acquired a cool, original BW photo of Assault in the Kentucky Derby post parade, taken by Bert Morgan, in Saratoga last year. I looked Assault up and turns out he was a total dud stud for a Triple Crown winner... minus that he somehow sired two Quarter Horse foals on King Ranch. :D https://en.wiki...

Re: Shifty Kitten
The November sale is labelled as a "breeding stock sale" but it's really a "horses of all ages" and you will see all sorts. Young fillies and mares may be listed as "Racing or Broodmare Prospect" in the catalog - this filly was not she was Broodmare Prospect - but raci...
