Re: Taking Flight
It was good for him and good for his sire, Tapit. Just stay healthy.

Re: Best Horses To Never Win A Stakes Race
A drop in class for Dark Vader. He is entered on 6/12 in a Santa Anita AOC race for horses that have never won a race other than and 50K claiming price, which should be easier than previous races for horses that have never won 2 races other than and claiming price of 80K or 100K. That is probably ho...
Re: Belmont
That could help the closers. Less horses to get in the way.

Re: Best Horses To Never Win A Stakes Race
Dark Vader finished 5th in his latest allowance race at Santa Anita on the 8th of May. So, he is 1 for 4 this year. I guess it is not easy for a 7 year old gelding to compete in allowance races at Santa Anita. Still think he is a good horse. Hope it all works out for him.

Re: Kentucky Derby 2022
Probably lost in the shock of the Kentucky Derby result is that a colt named Strobe made a pretty impressive debut in the final race today at Churchill Downs (race 14). Strobe won his first race, a MSW, with a time of 1:08.71. It reminded me of the debut of Life Is Good. Ironically, both Strobe and ...

Re: Best Horses To Never Win A Stakes Race
A tale of two horses: Dark Vader was bought for 150K at a two year old in training sales and Draft Pick was bought for 450K at the yearling sales at Keeneland, I think. Both colts ended up in the same barn. The reason for the higher price for Draft Pick was that he had a pedigree that was considere...

Re: Made You Look
Is Made You Look retired from racing? He is now 8 years old and has not been on the work tab. He did win a couple of graded stakes races and is a son of More Than Ready, a good stallion, so he should be able to be a stallion some place if he is done racing. Anyone here know what is going on with Ma...

Re: Best Horses To Never Win A Stakes Race
Dark Vader did race in the allowance race at Santa Anita. Apparently he bounced after winning a race in the same condition (N2X) last time out. Today he finished last in the 5 horse field. Only difference was the claiming prices he had on him in order to be in those races. Last time it was 80K. This...

Re: Best Horses To Never Win A Stakes Race
Speaking of Dark Vader, he is entered in the 400K Oaklawn Mile Stakes (grade 3) at Oaklawn Park on Saturday, 4/2/2022. The early line has him at 12 to 1, but you never can tell. I just noticed that Dark Vader is also entered in a 1 mile 72K AOC race at Santa Anita on the same day, Saturday, 4/2/202...

Re: Best Horses To Never Win A Stakes Race
Another thing about Dark Vader that I think hurt his value as a stallion: His sire, Tale of Ekati, is a grandson of Storm Cat. There are so many good sires from the Storm Cat sire line that it would be hard to get many breeders interested in him. Into Mischief alone has a bunch of sons that breeders...

Re: Best Horses To Never Win A Stakes Race
It could be a question of age and value - he had reached a point he proved to have questionable value as a stallion. Stallions can be a PITA. As they get older gelding becomes a more and more dangerous procedure. Thanks. I guess that Dark Vader's value as a stallion would not be that much. He still...
