Re: born 1931 - Athanasius
The 250+ horses shipped to the Remount Svc in 1946 were seized as war prize by the US Army from German studs. The TBs among them were removed to the USA over the protest of the North American, British, French, et al. registries. The Remount was disbanded in 1949, its horses dispersed at public aucti...

Re: Wrong name duplicate?
Format of the name as registered w/ JC, and entered in the ASB = Light O' M' Life. I've noted that fact in 'remarks' field, deleted the near-duplicate LOMyL entry and moved the single progeny that was attached to LOML.

Apparently, the record's been locked to the public. Since you're on the research team, you should be able to unlock and update the record from the research team's yahoogroups console. If not, post back here and I'll unlock it.

Bobadil's entry 'Mares under their Sires' section ASB5:861 gives his dam as Sarah Warren. Other than that, I haven't found clarification but suspect that N Warren & S Warren were same mare. Re. Don Juan - I'm guessing that you mean the entries ASB1:644 (produce of Cockerill's Old Ledbetter Mare ...

Re: The Whalebone Y mutation
Does anyone have any idea what it actually changed? Seems to me it must have conferred some benefit to have taken over as completely as it did. It's a single base deletion in the hyperpolymorphic YE3 region, per Wallner et al. 2013. Effect on fitness, if any, was and is unknown. See second para in ...

Re: The Science of Pedigree Analysis
I was under the impression that the "anomaly" of King Fergus was due to a mutation in the Y chromosome that occurred between Pot8os and Whalebone, not an error in the sire line. Unless I'm misremembering, DNA testing was done on Eclipse that showed him to carry the same Y as King Fergus. ...

Re: A29
Not a research question but just curious, it looks like A29 is represented by "40" now? Or is that a particular line that changed? I looked at Take a Stand line which is most common for that line. I have not read anything about that, except that it was found that A29 belonged to the same ...

Re: PedigreeQuery Is Not Keeping Up to Date
I'm wondering why there are unregistered horses in the database. Zenyatta's War Front filly and colt will never be registered. Or even this one. http://www.pedigreequery.com/poetry+in+motion11 PIM11 has been removed. Due to public demand, Zenyatta's '14 War Front filly is an official exception to t...
