So, my first thought is that there MUST be at least superficial info that the males pass on...what about all those farm websites that advocate crossing a sire with a particular body-type mare in order to produce a certain body type in the offspring? You're not saying that the ONLY trait a male pass...

Re: irrelevant
The data you posted in your above post is irrelevant to the problem I posed. The problem I posed is as follows: The RAN sire line has been superior in all three Triple Crown races for over 25 years. The data is strong in regards to impact values for all three legs of the crown. By comparison, the R...

I didnt make up, superior runner, medicore, or non-successful stallion. I inherited them from those who have gone on to greener pastures. RIP my friends. Okay. May as well give up on this thread as well since it has gone off into fantasy. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a348/RSteyn/More%20emotico...

A successful stallion will breed tons of superior runners with mediocre mares. A non-successful stallion that is bred to those blue blood black-type mares will strike out. Louis, please , let's stick with science and standard industry terms and measures, not what you make up. I've never heard a suc...

Re: Sire Lines: Fact and Fantasy
What keeps a sire line strong is the luck to have capable humans managing the breeding not the genes on the Y chromosome. And having suitable mares available. When one line has been extemely successful--such as Sunday Silence in Japan--there may be a scarcity of mares of very high class for the son...

Northern Dancer had full brothers who absolutely carried the same y-chromosome, the same mitochondrial DNA, and some share of the same DNA. But they did not run like Northern Dancer and they did not share Northern Dancer's success as a sire, either. The y-chromosome was the same, the mtDNA was the ...

Re: Assume sire lines exist
stancaris wrote:Does the Belmont winner Sarava carry the Northern dancer sideline? I know it must be assumed here that there is such a thing as a sire line
I honestly do not know what you mean by "sideline". Could you define it?

Re: Same question
Madelyn I will ask you the same question I asked Pan zareta which he didn't answer. Does Belmont winner Sarava carry the Northern Dancer sire line? The way I see it he doesn't carry the northern dancer sire line because he does not have Northern Dancer in tail male. In doing research on Belmont win...

Re: icecapade, Northern Dancer, Bold Ruler, Turn-To
It boggles my mind that you cannot see that Icecapade does not carry the Northern Dancer sire line. They had the same sire, same Y chromosome, so were exactly the same "sire line". Any meaningful genetic differences between Icecapade and Northern Dancer were in autosomal DNA and (maybe) mitochondri...

What does the government care about pedigrees? They don't breed remount horses any more and don't have a cavalry. The government could care less about fashion breds or non fashion breds. Hmm, I think they are training again for mule handling. There are still some places best reached riding a horse ...

It is stunning.
Maybe some virtual chocolate will settle my brain.
