Re: mating advice

Hi Jimmymac, I would revisit your thinking on Dutch Art. His fee is back down to a reasonable 15k which gives you a good chance of a commercial return given that his yearling median was 40000 guineas in 2017 and an average of 53000 guineas. That's not bad for a stallion who has 'gone quiet'. Admitte...

The stats given for Nureyev over Sadlers Well's are completely wrong. The best Nureyev line stallion in Europe is Pivotal a son of Polar Falcon who is a son of Nureyev. In 2011 Pivotal sired dual Group 1 winner Immortal verse who is out of a Sadler's Wells mare. In addition in the past he has sired ...

Anyone have a photo of Atan?

Does anyone have a photo of Atan (sire of Sharpen Up)? A friend of mine who is a big fan of Native Dancer is trying to complete her collection of photos of his sire sons and would greatly appreciate a photo of him.

Many thanks

thanks aethervox- that looks like the correct official explanation alright. And his sire (Doncaster) dam was called Marigold so it makes sense from that point of view.

what is the meaning or translation of 'Bend Or'

Anyone know the translation or meaning of the name 'Bend Or' the great stallion of the 19th century. I know 'or' is 'gold' in French but what does the full name mean?

Another good one was Irish Bird , dam of 3 classic winners in Assert (Irish & French Derbies), Bikala (French Derby) and Eurobird (Irish St Leger). Stan Cosgrave of Moyglare stud culled her for something like £16000, which wasn't his best ever decision:)

As a sire Sassafras got Henri le Balafre who seemingly did well at stud in Brazil. He also sired Baynoun who also ended up in South America and achieved fame as the sire of Sandpit. Sassafras is the sire of Tree of Knowledge the dam of Theatrical. Tree of Knowledge is also dam of Taiki Blizzard who ...

Hi Erins Isle, with a name like that you must have been interested in the article about Jim Bolger. He initially trained Erins Isle before he shipped to the States and he was involved in standing him as a stallion when he returned. Bolger trained a lot of his offspring over the years without any not...

I don't see anything controversial in what he says. Firstly the title of the thread is very misleading as he did not say that the BC should be all turf. Secondly it is proven beyond doubt that polytrack (or equivalent) leads to less breakdowns than traditional dirt. Is that not a laudable objective?...

sadler's wells /danehill and dirt

Can someone explain why the offspring of sadler's wells and danehill don't perform on dirt? With so much American influences in both there pedigrees you would think they would throw the occasional dirt performer but I cant think of one. It's always puzzled me and with the BC around the corner I'd li...
