what the hell is a quadie lol. I've watched aussie racing for like, 6 years now. damn near daily. i love the racing. But i can't take this anymore. Apparanlty it's like GOD of wagers down there. It's every race, it's the only thing they talk about lol. It took me about a year to realize that I thought there says dotayoume when they were saying .au like sportsbook.co.au
This is killing me. What wager is this? It seems to be multiple races, but damn it's every race. like, dammit the last race is the start of the quadie lol.

Re: I have a question about Aussie Racing
A quadie would be short for quadrupile or naming the first four home in the correct order.

Hi bdw,
The "quaddie" or quadrella is similar to our pick 4 wager....you have to pick the winners of 4 specified races at the same track. They also have a wager they call a "treble", which is similar to a pick 3 wager here in the states. TJ

Re: I have a question about Aussie Racing
Yes, that is correct TJ, the Aussies are notorious for shortening words and talking like 12 year olds but that is how it is. The "Quaddie" is a Quadrella ,picking 4 winners of specified races on the same day at a certain meet The payouts can differ upon which state you placed the bet as the pools and takeouts are different. Even though bookmakers are legal on-course the Quaddie is a bet formulated by the state mutuel association . Bets can be placed on course and off course at the state betting parlours. They may have tweaked the betting procedures in the 25 years since I lived there but I expect that it is much the same.

Whats the bet called when they have to name the first four in a race then TJ?

Not TJ - but I think that it is a First Four or a Quartet.
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....

Hi Dub,
As Madelyn said....it's not named TJ:>) But it is named the "first four", a logical name for picking the first four finishers in a race. That same bet is called a Superfecta in the states. The term "superfecta" was at one time used in Australia for a wager that was won by picking the first 6 horses to pass the finish line....that wager has been replaced by the "Quaddie". Once in a while a bet is the same across the water...the first 3 finishers to cross the line is called a "trifecta" both in Australia and the states. An "exacta", the first two to cross the line in exact order is the same in the states and Australia. The "quinella", picking the top two finishers regardless of that order and the same name applies here in the states. TJ
Re: I have a question about Aussie Racing
yeah the trifecta is called a tricast here - but knew the aussies had a first four past the post bet as I met a bookmaker from australia on the golf course while I was streaming a race on my tablet at one of the rest holes - nice guy bad golfer but could hold his whiskey.
