my goodness that horse can run. wow.
this might be my derby horse.
you know what nevermind. he won't be my derby horse, he has not proven he can take keeneland with him but still that horse looks really good going long.

A race like Dullahan's requires a fast pace, a clean trip, and an intelligent, well-timed ride. The drop-from-the-clouds strategy is easily derailed.

plus he WANTS 10F. not to many can say that
He will also have to pick a path through a lot of green, tired horses, with an enormous crowd making them all a little crazy.
These animals aren't machines.
Pack up my caveats about late stretch runners--and look up how many Kentucky Derbies are actually won this way--and get back to me after the Belmont Stakes. I've seen a lot of horses win and look devastating like Dullahan, and never show that kind of performance again.

that's why i wont bet him. reminds me too much of dominican.Hotwalker wrote:Was more impressed with Hansen, who did all the hard work, and set fractions that were faster than the Arkansas Derby. Dullahan's 2 lifetime wins are at Keeneland, will that translate to Churchill?
if you just look at their 2 races with no other horses in the race hansens race is more impressive. he ran faster and ran a faster 3rd split then the previous split while BM ran a 3rd split that was a second a half slower than the second split.
hansen is really growing on me. he has improved every race back this year and will be in it to win it come the derby. if everyone tries to sit back and think he is going to come back to the field he could give the field the slip. though that's very unlikely

And I suspect the color of his tail will not be decided late in the afternoon on Derby Day.
I kind of like the blue tail, but I'd never expect Keeneland to agree to such a thing. Blue-tailed Hansen in the Kentucky Derby...hell, that could mean millions more people paying attention to this race.

i normally would not suggest this, but the derby brings so many people who never ever wager, a blue tail on a horse could very well cause a vast amount of people to put money on him. i can see the girls now"oh he's so cute look at his tail i have to bet on him"

And how many times did Mine That Bird duplicate that win?
A race like that requires perfect timing and a perfect ride. It won't happen often.

Yes. But how many people are going to be expecting Dullahan to re-run the Derby with a 20 horse field?

now im still not set on my key horse in the derby yet...getting real close .....but Hansen will not be the leader in the derby...no no no...HE WILL BE THE STALKER ....and that will bode very well for him to get first jump on the leaders....that move works well in the derby.....Dullahan ran lights out ...nice exacta
