So how did he look on the track to you, TJ?

Hi Geo,
They no longer show the live feed from CD...but I did find this short video, see for yourself. He looks a bit tired to me, in the short piece they show of his jog, as I've seen him jog like a storm trooper leading into the Belmont Stakes. Yet it's to be expected, considering it's just 6 days since the the final leg of his TC grind. It's better he just takes it easy, but I kind of think Baffert wanted to get him out today since he will be on display at CD tomorrow night. He should gallop tomorrow morning as well, so hopefully we will get another look at him. TJ

Thanks for the clip, TJ. I'm no expert on horse body language, but yes he doesn't seem quite as on his toes as he typically is. It's tiring being a great one!

Hi Geo,
I posted an American Pharoah Update thread in the Handicapping section. You have to check out the 21 minute American Pharoah video from the Saturday evening AP tribute at Churchill Downs. TJ

I did see that show live, but they could have shown more of American Pharoah and less of the NBC hacks. I'll check out the video when I have a little time.

I's official, American Pharoah will run in the Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park August 2nd. The Travers at Saratoga on August 29th, could still be on the agenda for Pharoah if he takes the Haskell easily. TJ

as much as i like AP, he's a dead set play against in the classic at this point.

Why is that? Too short a price?

His win in the Haskell was an exercise gallop so the Travers may well be the same.

Wilf that's true, but the Travers is a stronger field. Frosted and Texas Red are both worthy opponents.

Looks almost sure:>) Baffert said today, if AP continues to train forwardly and works well this Sunday, he will race next in the Travers. TJ

Baffert will run AP in the Travers at Saratoga after a super work this AM at Del Mar. Bad news for Japan, who was injured in his Travers workout and is most likely through racing. TJ
