That didn't look good at all. A bit of a move going into the final turn, then just flattened out. Appeared that Mike Smith didn't really persevere with him when he knew he was beat.

Ashamed to admit it, but when I knew Arrogate wasn't going to get there, I started hoping he wouldn't hit the board. I hadn't looked at the mutuals, but I figured there probably was some bridge jumpers on this race.

Shergar

Winner paid $22 to show, place horse $66, and $115 to place.

IMHO Arrogate is a fine horse, but not yet one of the greatest (despite earnings). The earnings windfall was from the funky Pegasus race, which he hit fully in form, and in Dubai he continued that. The BC Classic was strong as well. But he was just coming into greatness. For me, it's the body of work over a long term. All his wins in less than one year. Zenyatta - undefeated against all, multiple G!, Bcup winner and lifetime undefeated save for a nose against the boys at the BC Classic. win the P Classic and another BC Classic (or RAscot or something) and he's tops in my book.

Run the race - the one that's really worth winning.
