Lady With a Fan

Postby merse » Wed May 30, 2007 6:46 am

Maven informed me that I should have posted this here instead of in the Racing category so I am re-posting:

Finally! I didn't know whether to post this in the Breeding section or here since it has been five years since we first started planning this mating, but I thought the "Racing" section was where it fit since, God willing, we are finally racing. Wish us luck.

Lacked a Rally!

Postby merse » Mon Jun 04, 2007 4:38 am

Lots of luck and a safe journey for the mare

Well, the results were "no luck" but a "safe journey" as Lady With a Fan broke late, had a relatively wide trip, and the chart callers were kind in saying she "lacked a rally" as I was expecting the comment to read "no factor."

Her jockey related that she "ran green." Afterwards, she did not seem freaked out by the experience of her first race, she scoped clean, so we will see what is next.

Intellectually, I was fine as I understand some horses take a while to figure it out. Emotionally, it was a bummer. That's horse racing!

Hapily both of you came out well, get prepared for the next start.
Most horses learns from the first couple of outings as do the newborn owners

FIFTH

Postby merse » Wed Jul 04, 2007 3:28 pm

Lady With a Fan finished fifth. Overall, it was a disappointment of course but, compared to her first outing, she showed improvement in the manner (or attitude) in which she ran.

Some of them takes their time, and mostly the trainers needs to find out the right buttom to press on. It,s part of the game
