Entered in race 4 at Bay Meadows, Wednesday 3/2. Five and a half furlongs, Starter Allowance, Purse $20,000. He is number 4, and his morning line is 5-1.
I think the distance might be a little short for him. Hope he does well, and comes back safe.

What time is the race? (Yeah, I could look it up but I'm in a lazy mood.)

Thank you sir! Now, would that be 2:23 MY time? :) And do you know if they will show that on TVG? I'm not very familiar with that track so I don't know if they're on the TVG list or not.

Hi

That's 2:23 Pacific. TVG does telecast Bay Meadows.

Ah... I've got an extra 3 hours to wait, then. Good luck, I'll be watching! :D

Hi

Dancer didn't embarrass himself. He raced blocked most of the way, and when he finally got clear, he closed willingly to finish second, well clear of the third place runner. With a better trip he would have been right there. I think he will be vey good at 6.5 furlongs, 5.5 furlongs is not his best distance.
He looked like he came out of the race OK.

FREE AMERICAN tracked the pace to the turn, commenced a bid but was fanned five wide to the stretch, continued to rally and got to terms in mid stretch then responded and inched clear late. ZULU DANCER was outsprinted early, tracked the leaders to the turn, was one off the rail and boxed in on the turn, waited the found room, rallied once clear but could not catch the winner. DOUBLE JIM dueled for the lead from the rail to the turn, responded to the stretch, resisted to mid stretch then weakened in the final sixteenth. COWBOY BADGETT had no speed, raced three wide to the stretch but lacked the needed late response. GOODENUFF FOR GARY was hustled and dueled for the lead from between horses to the turn, remained between foes and two wide to the stretch then tired in the final furlong. RABBIT EARS TOO dueled outside a three horse spread to the middle of the turn then weakened. MR. HAWTHORN tracked the pace to the turn, made a run four wide to the middle of the turn then stopped in the stretch.

From what I saw, if he'd had the clear trip that the winner had, your guy would've taken the win pretty easily. He looked to have more at the end than the winner and was closing nicely. It looked to me like he was behind a wall for most of the race and couldn't get out to do anything until the end. Frank Lyons pretty much said the same thing after the race. It seems he thought Zulu Dancer was the better horse but Free American caught a better trip. You have every reason to be proud... congratulations! :P

Congratulations! It sounds like he did a great job considering the trip he got.

Thanks all. I do think Dancer was the better horse, but I may be a little prejudiced. I think 6.5 furlongs would fit him perfectly. He has such a great personality, and is a very willing worker. He wants to please. Look for better things from him in the future.

Bill
congratulations, reading the posts on him, ( I don,t like traffic jams at all) he has been making the most from it. Keep my fingers crossed for the
next time. He ( zulu dancer) is owing something from his connections, and not otherwise around.
