I gather he wasn't so Speedy. I am going to see him next week and considering rescuing him. I would appreciate any background info on this horse. Like his racing record. Any incite or information would be greatly appreciated to better help and understand him. Thanks!

Hmmmm----that didn't help me much. Can anyone tell me if he raced extensively since he was 2? So he raced twice? Did he race in US and Canada? I already got his pedigree info from the website.
I wish I had the opportunity to speak the the owner OR trainer for background info but he was discarded like an old pair of shoes--An exercise rider got him out of there and is looking to place him....Any info would really be appreciated....Thanks!

The APR shows Speedy Milan (2001) as having had a single year race career, seven starts, one win, and 0-0 place and show. He earned $4,568. That was compiled at the beginning of this year (he is 5), so unless he made it back to the track recently, it is complete. His lone win came in a route (mile or more) race. So no, I wouldn't say his two year old career was extensive by any means.

The '04 model APR shows him as 'Unraced' - so that one year must have been at age four.

Where is poor Speedy? I trained his mother late in her career and won a couple of races with her for the breeder who also bred Speedy! H e was not keen on racing up here in Fort Erie and ended up in the hands of the philistines. None of that mares produce have done much so far. Keep me posted. He should be sound enough as she had great bone and was a good sized mare. Wilf.

Was he bred in Florida? It seems he started his racing career late then. Wilf thanks for that info I PM'd you. I found him compact, nicely put together, very friendly and mild mannered.

Glad to be of some help.

I saw his last race here at Fort Erie in early summer, he raced up there but bowed and that was that, ridden fortunately by a bug girl who just sat chilly on him so as not to worsen the situation. Another case of a horse that should have never been persisted with due to infirmity and lack of talent. It happens all the time with trainers just not getting the message and ruining one horse after another. If you get my pm then let me know how I can help. Last year I found another horse that had been good to everyone that raced him but had been campaigned for far too long and was discarded and fading away in a back field. I get so mad!!

Hi, I'm the owner of Speedy Milan since 3 year and a half. I bought him to ride for pleasure. He receives the best cares. When I bought him, he had moonblindness, but I didn't know. He was operated this summer to try to preserve the vision of his right eye (he already lost the left).

If you can tell me information about Speedy Milan or giving me photos of him, I will really appreciate! I already have his pedigree and the races he has done.

Thank you,

Sophie

Hi, this isn't exactly related to Speedy Milan's history but I own his full brother. He raced under the name Caballos and was born in 2002, also by Compadre, out of Ivory Vixen. I have owned him for almost four years now and he has turned into a lovely hunter horse. I only just got around to looking up his tattoo number and a search of his parents brought me to this thread. It's great to learn about his family!

Pm me if you still own Speedy Milan, I would love to see some pictures :)

I would also be interested to hear from people who knew Caballos from his track days or knew the Grgurics, who bred them.
