Accuracy of old chart information

I'm amused at attempts by speed fig fans that go back in time to calculate Beyers for famous stars of the past. On other sites, there have been people who derived statistics in such a manner (usually in attempt to prove that their own favorites were faster than any horse before or since).

For those who are trying for that last 5% of accuracy for their figs, read this article. It pretty much undercuts any accuracy claims of those who rely on old methods of on-the-fly data gathering:
