Indy Mood colt
Well, make that TWO down! After all my complaining, Corelate finally foaled this morning, day 361. I guess she was just waiting for March! It's a boy, which is no surprise. This mare has had 5 foals, all colts. We have another mare who has had 5 foals, all fillies. It's enough to really make a person believe that some mares have a uterine environment set up to specifically nurture the X sperm or the Y sperm only!

This is odd. I was too wrapped up in just taking care of things yesterday to really think about this colt, but he's a bit of a strange one. This mare has had 4 previous foals, all bay with a little bit of white around one of their feet, but not much... maybe a star too. All colts, all look EXACTLY like their momma. She has really stamped her foals. Little Corelate Carbon Copies.
This one is a colt, so she's following that pattern. But, it's a chestnut (and here all along I figured she was a double copy bay mare!) And, it doesn't look anything like her (well, it has 4 legs and a tail, but you know what I mean.) It has one high white stocking, and this thing is TALL. I mean, TALL. I've seen lots of foals, and this has to be the tallest one at birth that I've ever seen. ALL legs. He's strong and healthy and doing good, but he has a hard time getting up... he has to really work at it because his legs are just so darn long. When he's laying down resting, he looks like a normal day old foal, but once he's up, he's already about as tall as last year's foals, no lie!
So much for the Corelate Carbon Copies!
