He has 15 total foals. 10 chestnut, 1 bay, 1 black, 1 brown, 1 red dun and 1 dun.
The dam of the bay is a bay. The dam of the dun is a gray carrying dun whose base color is unknown. The dam of the black is a heterozygous black (she is also the dam of a chestnut by him). The dam of the brown is a bay. That really proves nothing. I was hoping we'd find proof he had sired a black base out of a red mare... but nope. So he *could* be chestnut, but doesn't have to be.

I think hes chestnut with black patches...though I suppose hes truly BOTH.

If he's a c himera he's both black and chestnut. But the white pattern trumps the base color whatever it is.
Chimeras don't always show up in appearance. An animal (humans too) can look one way but have different DNA if the gonads are the ones with the "other" um, parts. Like that newstory on chimeras, a woman was tested and her DNA did not match her kid's but there was no doubt she was the mother. The father's did match. Forget why they were testing in the first place but they finally had to test everyone in the family and link her that way!
