If you were to select a sire for the successful stakes winner, YUKICHAN,
what sire would be your choice?

How about Conduit? Superior racing ability, and his sire, Dahlakani was himself a great racehorse. All those beautiful Aga Khan bloodlines. And best of all, he's in Japan! Maybe he would get a pretty white foal that could run like the wind! :P

SIRE: CONDUIT -- http://www.pedigreequery.com/conduit4
DAM: YUKICHAN -- http://www.pedigreequery.com/yukichan

Solid choice from a racing perspective and who knows if the result is a white foal (The latter proposition seems less probable given his conservatively marked phenotype, but... who knows :P )

Thank you very much Affirmed1

Given the unique phenotypical characteristics of WHITE VESSEL (White H 2004), the aforementioned question also applies to this full brother to YUKICHAN.

WHITE VESSEL (Jpn) (White H 2004) and his unique eye:

Apparently one of the latest produce from Shirayukuhime is this white equine:

The white Sunday Silence foals are likely to be a new mutation of the KIT gene. KIT is a large gene and is prone to replication errors--when Kit gets copied pieces are deleted, copied twice, or put in backwards.

Kit controls a lot of white patterns, including Roan, Sabino, and Dominant White.

Once the mistake is made, it is reproduced in the next generation.

I'd guess that the Sunday Silence white horses are a new version of Dominant White, as this mutation is a Dominant, so if the horse has a copy, it shows.

However every Dominant White family has a different mutation, and they express in slightly different ways. The Japanese whites seem to be all white, as do the Patchen Whites. Puchilingui is another founder, and his version of DW has more variety in expression.

This kind of mutation seems to happen quite a bit. The difference is that with DNA verification of the parents, these white horses are now registered, rather than being given away as the offspring of a TB mare and a "fence jumper". The Japanese whites are probably the best racing bred horses on the planet, and they were lucky enough to be born in a country that has a historical reverence for white horses.

A couple of the Australian white TB's are well bred too.

I"d look to Japan for the production of a great white racing stallion.

What I wouldn't give to get White Vessel to stand here. We could actually get some whites that might have a chance to run well AND the benefit of some new Sunday Silence blood.

What a great idea. Is he still a stallion? You'd think the Patchen folks would be interested in a race bred white stallion.

As far as I know he is. I haven't seen anything state he has been gelded yet. I know he's retired but I don't know if he's standing there or what. Given the attention he got I would think there would be some interest in breeding to him so I wouldn't think they would have gelded him or just adopted him out.
