Birdcatcher spots?

Postby SpecialEffects » Mon May 02, 2016 8:39 am

A friend bred her mare - Hillaryswinner - who has a half star as her only facial marking. She started developing another white marking just above her nostrils. It keeps getting bigger and there is also a small slash in one nostril. I saw her yesterday and a lot of the white mark has pink skin under it. She at 352 days now and it's still growing. lol

I asked ACC and she felt it was a group of Birdcatcher spots. Any opinions. This is so strange!

It could be but with new pink skin under it I might be thinking of vitiligo or a fungus that causes a similar effect.
Every mighty oak was once an acorn that stood its ground.

Thanks. The vet was out and he just shrugged and didn't think much of it. lol (he was out to see why she was not spitting out the kid  )
She has now foaled and we shall see if the mark disappears once the nursing slows down or stops.

Thanks for your reply.
