and wasn't he sold at auction for under 20k? He just so happen to show talent. Thats what made him a superstar. However, if he had little talent he would just have been thrown in the bucket with the other bottom claiming horses produced each year.

as with horses education is key. Selecting the best to breed to the best to produce quality stock is something a breeder of any animal should be familiar with. Unfortunetly a large portion of dogs and cats are brought into this world because their owners are not smart enough to take proper care and spay/neuter their dogs/cats. With larger stock animals money and numbers play more of a role and cloud good judgement. I agree there is a problem that needs to be addressed with a surplus of numbers.
