Wrong horse in PQ Stakes-winner listings

Postby parlo » Tue Nov 20, 2007 3:11 am

A friend of mine found Cadmus (by American Eclipse, born 1831) as winner of the 1934 Prix du Conseil Municipal de Paris.

Well, a certain Cadmus won that race - but it was definitely not one registered in the PQ database actually.

It had been fixed. :)

The correct Cadmus, a 1930 colt by Bahadur, was not yet in the database.

Thank you very much, Lucy!

I researched for only some 15 minutes and didn't find anything. Because of his name, I presumed 'Asterus' was his sire - a prominent horse at stud in those days.

There is another one:

Doctor Syntax (born 1812, died 1838 according to the database) won the Cambridgeshire of 1842?

Fixed. :) That year's winner was Ralph, a 1938 son of Doctor Syntax.

Who is the correct winner of the 1983 Cambridgeshire Handicap?

Here

http://www.tbheritage.com/TurfHallmarks ... shire.html
is another Sagamore shown as in the PQ-database.

Thanks for information!

Thank you, Lucy! Would you be so kind to name the source of your information?

From the Bloodlines.net stakes database, double-checked with the APR. :)

There are two Glacis, born 1904, in the PQ-data base. The English was placed in the Cesarewitch of 1908 and the Russian was second in the Doncaster Cup in the same year?

Is this really right or are the Cesarewitch and the Docaster Cup-horse identical, i. e. the English horse sired by Carbine?

Does anybody know? Seems like another tricky task for Lucy!  Thanks in advance.

I was able to confirm both pedigrees exist.

While I could not find actual proof, it appears that the horse we have as Glacis6 never left Russia. Meanwhile, the son of Carbine was active in English Cups & Handicaps in 1908, so I am reasonably certain this is the horse that placed in both the Cesarewitch and the Doncaster, and have adjusted the database accordingly. :)
