Looking for information on:
CASINO, Chestnut stallion foaled 1881 (*Macaroon - *Castagnette)
I'm wondering who bred this stallion?
I'm also trying to place him on the west coast. I see that he did sire a mare named SEVEN UP, a chestnut mare, foaled in 1891, bred by William Hall, Jr, but don't know where he was located??? The producing daughters I find for him in ASB Vol VII and VIII were in Tennessee and Kentucky.
SEVEN UP was owned by E.J. Baldwin, Santa Anita Stud, Arcadia, Ca. (found in ASB VII pg 950).
Thanks in advance...Pat

ASB v.IV shows that Castagnette was imported by D. D. Withers, Brookdale Stud, New Jersey. It does not, however, specify that Withers owned her, as it does with other imported mares....so that may not have been who bred Casino.
Casino did have a full sister, Cadance, foaled in 1877. If she has her own entry as a dam in later editions, that would answer the question of who bred them - alas, her protentially productive years fall into a gap in my studbook collection.
Hope that gives you some useful clues, at least...
