ADVANTAGE

Postby [email protected] » Tue Jan 05, 2010 3:33 pm

On this pedigree site...it shows that ADVANTAGE (Ch 1931) was a Stakes Winner. None of my record books show him to be a Stakes Winner, however it does show that he placed 3rd in the Pimlico Handicap. Someone may want to re-check and correct if necessary.

I don't see a 1931 Advantage in the datbase....do you mean the 1932 model?

If so, the 1936 American Racing Manual does list him as the winner of the 1934 Hawthorne Juvenile Handicap. However, he is not listed under his dam in Hogan's Index to Stakes Winners, nor is he listed in the Blood-Horse Breeders of Stakes Winners index for 1932 foals.

I'd imagine this is due to the value of the race in question - the Hawthorne Juvenile was only worth $1,400 that year. That being the case, the DB is correct to list him as the winner without awarding him black type.

Simpson (Stakes and Major Handicap Winners and Their Dams) includes him for the Hawthorne & the '98 APR does show him in b/t for the 3rd in the Pimlico H.

Thanks (my '95 APR has been acting stubborn since I got Vista). Does it say which Pimlico H.? It isn't showing in the ARMs for '36 & '40.

Yeah....I meant 1932...get to going so fast, hit the wrong key. OK about the winning of the Handicap....makes it understandable now.

As for the Pimlico H....that would be in his two year old year, 1934.

Thanks again Folks!!! Pat
