Denmar's Dream won the California Derby on April 10th at GG. Ranger won the Bay Meadows Derby on December 12th.
The wikipedia entry for the Golden Gate Derby lists Bai Brun as the 1994 winner. A perusal through his past performance finds nothing of the sort, and only a 5th place finish in the California Derby. His only stakes first at GGF was for the Gold Rush Stakes. Take this wiki entry for what it is worth.

The Golden Gate Derby was renewed in 1997 for the first time in 38-45 years (sources disagree on whether the hiatus began in 1952 or 1959). Jumron & Halo Sunshine are shown in the db here as winning this race in 1995 & 1996 but actually won the Golden State Derby those years.
