In ASBs 1-4 she's listed as chestnut. In a May 3, 1899 NY times article about the auction of TB horses, she's listed as chestnut. But she had two bay fillies, Helpmate and Classmate, when bred to Planet, who is chestnut.

I ran across one reference at http://libguides.uky.edu/content.php?pid=263909&sid=2178840 in the text under "Michael Barnard Gratz Pedigree Book, 1859-1883" that lists Full Cry as bay.

Genetically Full Cry has to be bay, but why would so many sources list her as chestnut?

She's recorded as bay under her dam ASB 2:327. Subsequent records showing her as chestnut may be due to clerical error. Or her coat color may simply have been ambiguous. With two horses (*Tranby & Emuckfaw) in her first three gens. that are consistently recorded as brown I think that's a possibility.
