Stallion suggestions for Fatal Portrait

Postby apexseal » Thu Dec 11, 2008 10:30 am

Would love to see stallion suggestions (I prefer Florida, but would consider Ky and Ny) for my filly Fatal Portrait, which I am planning to breed in 2010. Originally, I had thought on Concerto and Lerodesanimaux.

Thanks!!

I have no advice for you, but I see Missy Baba is her fourth dam, and I love this family. Good luck with her!

I think it is really hard to choose a stallion for a 2010 breeding. There is just no telling what horses will be where at that time.

The black type in this filly's female line is very limited until you get back to her fourth dam, Missy Baba, meaning that it would be in the fifth generation for any of this filly's foals. Pennyworth produced only 1 black type: Wortheroatsingold. Wortheroatsingold produced only 1 black type. Something Of Value didn't run and has produced one non-winner. Fatal Portrait apparently hasn't run.

I would be hesitant to breed an unraced mare by a stallion that only had 4 starts and now stands in Alberta out of an unraced dam that hasn't produced a winner, especially with the TB market being as it is.

I think Sweetsouthernsaint at $2,500 is a pretty great value.

If it were me, I would go performance. There is the makings of a really stellar eventer in there.
