Does anyone have any idea of the average distance of open stakes. I would guess it would have to be about 1 1/8 miles. The sample was large but it was not representative of the the average TB. I guess one could say that if you want to breed an open stakes winner, you need "Dominant Classicity" in the dosage profile. I'm prettty sure that there are many exceptions, but it seems to be a good generalization. I still think it is more productive to have a thorough knowledge of the ancestors in the first two or three removes.

Roger,

Using the same previous info source (Mitchell)

G1 9.22 f
G2 8.61 f
G3 8.28 f
LISTED 7.64 f

These are the average figures from the sample. Similarly the older horses ran longer and their dp also changed.
