suggestions for a stallion

Postby kybred » Fri Jan 02, 2009 6:04 am

I would like to breed my mare, to produce a racing prospect foal. My stud fee range would be $5K to $10K. I am located in KY.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Holy Bull is at 10k for 2009 at Darley and would seem a logical choice for your mare.

Your mare must of had some ability to have $21k in earnings off of just one win in two starts. I'm guessing she won a MdSpWt first time out somewhere. I like to see that.

She's got a stakes winning half-sister by Holy Bull's son Macho Uno.

And her second dam produced a stakes horse by Holy Bull himself.

Holy Bull has done well with the Blushing Groom branch of the Nasrullah line getting Grade I winners Macho Uno and Flashy Bull out of mares by Blushing Groom and his son Mt. Livermore respectively.

So it would seem worth a shot to try your mare from a different branch of the Nasrullah line with Holy Bull.

The resulting foal would be a complete outcross for five generations too.

I think you would be better served to add your expected expenses to raise and train your mare's 2010 foal to the $10k stud fee and buy a 2 YO ready to train or claim a $25k to $35k horse already running.

Holy Bull appears to be a very good choice to breed to my mare. Thank you for the insight.
Griff, I will pm you.
