Over on TrueNicks.com they have an interesting post on infusing Speed or Stamina.

It is worth a read but also it poses an interesting question. Can anyone think of modern-day examples of a speed or stamina being successfully infused into a family of the inverse aptitude? Which strategy is more difficult to accomplish?

I've been looking at Fred Hooper's bloodlines. He eventually reached a point where he was almost invariably inbreeding to Olympia (a foal of 1946 who beat a QH in a match race), the most extreme example I could find being a 1999 foal with ELEVEN crosses of Olympia:

But unlike other breeders who close the farm gate to outside blood who indulge in inbreeding, Hooper sometimes sent his mares out to stallions to acquire greater stamina. He seems to have done this successfully. Speedy Diplomat includes Hooper-bred crosses of Roberto, Forli, Chieftain, & Quadrangle.
