Could really use some help with a stallion!

Postby vallygirl927 » Mon Feb 21, 2011 10:13 am

Hello All,

I've picked up a mare named Conga Queen. She's by Congaree out of Special Test. There's plenty of blacktype in this mare's first generation. I want to send her to KY to be bred asap. Can you guys help me out with a stallion prospect? The Blushing Groom line has been a difficult one to find a good match with. I'm also trying to find a stallion that has some commercial appeal to sell the foal here in CA in a few years. I'm looking for something at $7,500 and under. A few lines I've found that appeared to do well with Blushing Groom have been the Silver Deputy line, Cherokee Run line, Nureyev, Wild Again and Carson City. I'd love to take the mare to City Zip, but can't do it at $15,000! What do you all think of these stallions?

Spring At Last
Badge of Silver
Zanjero
Run Away and Hide
Sharp Humor
Offlee Wild

Please help me out! I'm stuck here!

Thanks All!

Point Given or Van Nistelrooy

Point Given is more commercial of the two and of the 16 foals bred on the cross 14% stakes winners compared to 4% from the broodmare with other stallion lines.

I do think this and next year Van Nistelrooy is going to have a better years from what was sold at last Septembers Keenland auction, he had some nice offspring.

Not sure either Badge of Silver or Sharp Humor are still available at that price?

At that price point, I would throw Pleasantly Perfect into the mix. Offset the Hawkin's Special with some Pleasant Colony.

Badge of Silver is still advertised at $7,500 on The Blood Horse Stallion Registry, but I'd guess it'll be different in 2012.

I'm too high on the price scale, but I like her with Langfuhr

Springboro, I was reading through an old post and you mentioned you had a contact in Indiana with boarding at $11 a day. Do you still have his info and, if so, can he ship to the big farms?

PP is HUGE though. Both BOS and Spring at Last are a well balanced 16 hands and are more likely (based on what the respective bloodlines have done) to get a horse that will get to the track sooner. I LOVE both of these boys and they are on my list. I believe if you call and are foaling out of state you might get a nice deal :)

I believe SH is full though.
