Just remember the foals will have no black type until the third dam, so the page will be pretty bleak.

True, but if you take a look at the current catalogs for both of the upcoming Fasig-Tipton yearling sales you'll find plenty with no blacktype until the third dam.

I was actually surprised at how many GOOD mares are in the Keenland sale that have been really disappointing producers. In fact, there are a few who, outside of their own accomplishments have a rather blank page too.

Look at all the Tomisue's and count on one hand the black type on the entire page... and most were bred to the best stallions.

On a sort of related note, GiGi's "aunt" had a two year old first time starter named Tasty Treat who ran at Fairplex last week and they were talking about her dam, Vividora. Vividora is one of two unraced foals from Margaret's Hope out of 13 foals she produced. The 11 that ran all won and many have blacktype so the fact they were highlighting the "dam is unraced" and well, her two foals have not been very good.... was a bit of an insult. This is the mare's third foal and third runner so their comments were a bit condescending to the family... They almost did not know what to say when she ran away from that field. The family may not produce G1 winners but they get to the track and they win. I'd take that over a G1 winning mare that has had one runner out of many foals and no winners that you see all over the place.

If you believe in the mare good luck to you!
