Advice on Oratory x Soulful

Postby ZiaLand » Sat Aug 31, 2013 6:31 pm

I'd like to know some thoughts on this hypomating.

Oratory x Soulful (Tale of the Cat - Rich In Love by Seattle Slew)

I'm intrigued with the Seattle Slew delta and the reinforcements to Narrate through full sisters Preach (dam of Pulpit--top side) and Yarn (dam of Tale of the Cat--bottom side). I also like the presence of three daughters of Secretariat including Terlingua and Weekend Surprise. Oratory looks like a good physical match, based on his photo.

I don't usually look to breed outside New Mexico, but with a Lion Heart mare and most of the best stallions in the state by Storm Cat, I've been scouting other options in Texas.

Thanks!

i like the duplication of sisters, but with the great NM bred incentives, I'd stay with a NM stallion if it was my mare.

A quick look at Oratory's best progeny show that his best runners have a return of Prospector which your mare has. Comparatively few Storm Cat line foals.

If you look at Oratory in person and he doesn't fit your mare, Early Flyer is clocking in at 7% SW from foals out of all kinds of mares ($3000). He is a 5-generation outcross but has older strains of lines your mare already has, including Princequillo, Crimson Satan (BIG influence with Storm Cat) and Lalun via Never Bend.

Another strain that is going really well with Storm Cat is Gone West (better than AP Indy IMO). So that's somewhere else to go.

We demand a "fee" of....cute foal pictures. :D

Because there's no such thing as too many cute foal pictures. Ever.

That's a deal. But you'll have to wait for spring. :)
