Shamardal and Zenyatta I think would be an interesting cross line breeding on Street Cry and his sister Helsinki.

That would be. Seems like nothing else has really worked so far for Zenyatta. Breeding can be such a crapshoot. Stallion selection and pedigree analysis can work to produce such a beautiful pedigree on paper... but then after the foal is born it is the horse in front of you that will need to be able to run.

Hi Keith,
Good job in digging up this cross. I think it is beyond an interesting cross and it's probably one of the most intriguing hypo-mating's I've seen in many moons...could be just what Zenyatta needs? I really like the Rasmussen Factor (RF) to Helen Street through full siblings Helsinki and Street Cry. You should get this hypo-mating to Darley/Godolphin or Coolmore...one of them might even go and buy Zenyatta just to assure this becomes a reality....AND they should give you a finders $fee:>) TJ

Kind of a close one, 2x2 to full siblings, but it is sex balanced. Could be a perfect cross, but who knows. So far she's been crossed once on a Danzig line and twice on AP Indy lines and still no winners. If a horse is going to be closely line bred, or inbred, high quality individual runners and producers is the way to do it, so I'd try this cross one time. :)

Well yes, but Shamardal is in Europe and it would Deprive the hordes of Zenyatta fans in the US from the thrill of seeing That Foal win...

It is a very intriguing cross on paper. If the Thoroughbred was one of those breeds that allowed AI then it might even be a possible one. But it is not allowed and I cannot credit that the owners of the Fantastic mare Zenyatta would consider quarantine and flight to Europe and back to breed their precious mare. She is probably stuck with the gene pool in Kentucky at this time. It will be interesting to see what the Medaglia d'Oro 2017 foal will do... if I were planning I would take a glance at Uncle Mo for her. Brings in a lot more ND plus Hail to Reason.
