I saw Winslow Homer at Journeyman's December stallion show (they'll be having another in January). Crystal Fernung (Journeyman's co-owner) says he's a "a big sweet goof" in disposition and he is certainly a pretty boy, tall and with a very nice hind leg; might make a good show horse sire if he doesn't pan out getting runners.

A curiosity: Is this the only son of Unbridled's Song
out of a Tapit mare? A future stallion?

Two questions:

01. How many sons of Unbridled's Song were foaled in 2013?
02. Any news on MASON'S SONG who seems to be the only cross done by Unbridled's Song
out of a Tapit mare?

From the one of the latest crop of Unbridled's Song!

ROOKIE SENSATION (gray/ro H 2010) http://www.pedigreequery.com/rookie+sensation

Nice fashionable respectable pedigree and this guy has pretty good speed.
Any additional comments on this one? Thanks for your comments!

Rookie Sensation has a really nice pedigree, lots of speed. His dam has produced a lot of runners, and under his 3rd dam (Missy Baba) are 2 successful stallions- Raja Baba and Sauce Boat. And, this is the female family of AP Indy and Summer Squall. I would think Adena might be interested in standing him at their Ontario farm? I don't know how popular he would be here, like a lot of Unbridled's Song's, he is better on turf. If he could get some more graded wins under his belt, he would be more attractive. He's one to watch.

ALL HANDS (grey/ro c 2012) http://www.pedigreequery.com/all+hands4

This colt is the last full-brother to Kentucky Derby second place finisher, EIGHT BELLES.
Only time will tell. Wish him all the best!

I think he is doing well with the limited book of mares he receives and now that Fiftyshadesofgold is back in training he may look even better in the future. I have a mare in foal to him and will breed back to him again next year.

FSG looked great winning the Eight Bells today!

Two Unbridled's Song fillies ran well today to Untapable in the KY Oaks - 2nd My Miss Sophia and 3rd Unbridled Forever.

And an Unbridled's Song 4-year-old colt out of G1 winner Tap To Music, named Segovia, won first out. Owned and bred by Adena/Stronach.

A new son by Unbridled's Song out of a Tapit dam has appeared
to become the second with such a nick. His name is:

Thanks Jorge for noticing. A first in the Debutante and a second in the Bashford is a good start. The thing I have noticed with his 2 yr olds and yrlgs is how intelligent and kind they are as I have spent a little time with the above horses and the others and I must say they are more precocious than the MGS babies. As we all know, only time will tell.

I have a particular interest in this thread as I own two, young allowance winning Dehere mares (one ran third this month in a second level allowance off her winter break). They are both out of an old foundation mare of mine by I'ma Hellraiser (see Cross Traffic). Remarkably close up in this mare's damside are the direct producers of the two time champions and members of the Racing Hall of Fame, Bed O'Roses and Challedon.

My gut feeling at this point is that Midshipman may be the most promising for these mares but I am interested in the future performance of his first crop. These Dehere mares damside (I'ma Hellraiser, etc.) nick remarkably well with the Hail to Reason family, most notably Cure the Blues and Halo. Also, as witnessed by the strong affinity for A.P. Indy, Seattle Slew as well.

I am also obviously interested in Cross Traffic. To respond to an earlier post, I believe his apparent unsoundness has been caused by his owner's fascination with synthetic surfaces (see Goldmark Farm). In my experience as a trainer, it's the worst thing you can do with a young horse. It would appear at this point that he will not return to the races and will be put to stud next year.
The talented ones will give you an early hint.
