Well it certainly looks like the Invasors are starting to turn up on the tracks and show some promise. Hopefully these colts and fillies will continue to improve as they mature. Nothing would please me more than to see some really big winners for the big guy because I think he deserves it considering what he did

Holy Invader was first and firster in a starter allowance - what I mean is that he went to the front and set the pace and when a challenger got within 1/2 length he took off again to win by 4 3/4.

He went off at 1.20 and was an EZ winner - the first Invasor to score 2 wins in a row.

Golf Juan is making his 2012 debut March 22 at Chantilly in a claimer (16,000 Euros) at 7.5 f. His best race at 2 (3d place) was at 9.5 f, so he's ramping up like Vader. To see the race entries click on the underlined text after the yellow exclamation point in a yellow circle.

Clh: All the steps forward the Invasor class of 2009 are taking at three are happening for Vader. It's looking as if they aren't out of the ordinary at two, because they develop later than most horses. At three Vader, no sprinter, won a sprint against older horses. I bet he's stronger and faster and does everything better. You'll have fun!

Thanks Brigitte - he is getting stronger and is going through a growth spurt right now. We're giving him a break until River Downs opens up in another month or so. Given his record we think he's earned a little down time ;). (as a little side note: his barn buddy Not An Altar Boy won at Beulah Park today. We bred "Damien" as well and he is a real "treat").

In Gagne's first try at a mile the fractions were much slower than in her 6f race 2 weeks ago, they went 6f a almost 3 seconds slower! Gagne broke first, was 6th at 1/4 (held back?), 5th until the stretch then retreated and ended up 7th (last) beaten by 22 1/2 lengths. After breaking first she was always further from the front than in the faster race, you'd think she'd have a kick since she didn't run as hard. Was it the 2 weeks? Resisting the jockey? Can you know? Better luck next time.

Invasor Girl finished 8th of 11 and was classified, meaning her position won't show up as (0) on her record. No check, though. There are no comments available yet, they may not show up for a couple of weeks.

Clh: Vader really has earned a vacation, munching green grass to speed his growing. I saved a maidenwatch article he wrote after going to River Downs to see Vader, who he said is "a big guy". He included 3 pictures of Vader. You probably have the article. BTW how big is Vader?

Golf Juan is Invasor's 10th winner and his First European Winner. He was 1st of 9 by 3/4 at Chantilly at 7.5 f and earned 9,500 Euros ($12,520).

Brigitte - I haven't seen him this year because of the hip replacement, but he was almost 16h last year so my guess would be he has surpassed that. He has added some muscle mass which of course comes with age, and although he was never "skinny", the bulk shouldn't hurt him. Of course, when you look at pictures of Vader in the paddock with his groom leading him or standing next to Ivan he looks like a monster ... problem is those guys are pretty small :)!

PHOTON is a tough guy!

Postby Brigitte » Thu Mar 22, 2012 4:05 pm

Clh: Hope you get back to normal soonest and get to see Vader (and Damien).

Photon worked 6f yesterday so I figured he'd be scratched from the his first try in an allowance. Wrong! He ran against his toughest competition yet and came in second after racing 3 wide. "Best of the rest" ain't bad when the mile was run in 1:36.54 and the fastest mile Photon ever ran was 1:40.23. Rick Dutrow knows how to improve a horse. What next?

Invasors that didn't race at two

Postby Brigitte » Fri Mar 23, 2012 5:14 pm

Aghaany made her debut today at Oaklawn in a 6f MSW for a purse of $51,000. She was 7th of 8 ("Failed to menace"). She is out of Grade 1 winner Spun Sugar and is racing for Shadwell - should improve.

Here are four Invasors from the 2009 crop that started training at three:

Al Aqsa is one of 4 MTO entries in an Aqueduct turf MSW at a mile April 4 for a purse of $65,000.

Azure Hills has moved from Fairgrounds to Turfway. She's entered April 4 in a $5000 mcl 6.5 f on synthetic for a purse of $4,500. Her new connections are sprinting her on synthetic, her old connections ran her at a mile on turf and for double the tag. In her last she broke through the gate, didn't run much.

Hey, Madeline - glad you got to see Invasor. Did they boy come out plodding like an old ploy horse? That is how he usually makes his appearance ;). Did you see Daaher? How did he look? I loved him as well (which of course is why I also sent Allou to him ;) ).
