Dixie Union & Vindication as broodmare sires

Postby Cree » Wed Mar 09, 2016 5:22 am

Both were impeccably bred and died rather young.

It should come as no surprise that Dixie Union is turning out to be a solid broodmare sire since he is by Dixieland Band, a darn good broodmare sire himself. Dixie Union's daughters are the dams of Mohaymen and Mor Spirit - two of the top sophomores on the Derby trail.

Another sire that we lost too soon was Vindication, who also looks to be coming into his own as a broodmare sire - his daughters are the dams of Exaggerator and Dazzling Gem.

Modiste, a filly I part own, has Dixie Union as a BM sire and is inbred 3X4 to Dixieland Band, as is Princess of Sylmar.
She's also by Uncle Mo, who is doing OK, I would say!
She's only raced once due to a sprained ankle and then illness, but is back training and I'm hoping she'll be improved off her fourth in debut.
What do you think of inbreeding to DB?
All shouting does is make you lose your voice.

Vindication is also the broodmare sire of Flexibility, who may show up again in this year's Wood or the Bluegrass Stakes.
