How big of a deal is a high, cold splint on a prospective yearling purchase? If the horse moves sound and the splint is set would this be a deal breaker or effect the price of the yearling? Thanks in advance.

I bought a really nice well bred yearling for $1500 because he had a splint. He ran out over $50,000 for me. A year after I bought him, the splint had disappeared.
