I think somewhere in the $8K to $12K range. Of course it is highly dependent upon how competitive the sale ends up.

Aargh. Sale is a noun. The verb is "to sell", as in, "how much will this mare sell for?"

As in "He could sale ice to Eskimos". Or "that stallion has perfect confirmation".

Wow . . . it's getting impossible for anyone to ask a simple question on this forum without being insulted, corrected, and/or mocked.
My suggestion, unasked, is the following:

a) Join a grammar police forum
b) Join an anger management support forum
c) Join an elitist Tbred breeder's forum that only breeds stakes winners.

But here, "Can't we just all get along?"

Think about it . . .

I agree. I apologize for my comment. I didn't think about how the comment might be perceived when I submitted it.

And, by the way, I followed the subject mare during her career, as I like to follow the Congaree offspring. I hope she does well at the sale. Congaree has a very durable runner right now in Jeranimo, who I have also been following and Congaree seems to get runners. Hopefully he will be a good broody sire, also.

And I'm sorry you are "blushing" over it--you are hardly the worst offender.
Anyway, I've felt this strongly for awhile and just had to say it.

No problem. I think it was helpful feedback. 8)

I am going to go a little off topic here but... I used to cringe when I heard the word sale used as a verb rather than a noun. I have come to believe in that in some parts of the horse industry (or some parts of the country) sale, when used as a verb, carries a different connotation or meaning than the verb sell. I believe when sale is used the implied meaning is sold at an auction to the highest bidder. This differentiates the transaction from a negotiation between a seller and a single buyer when the verb sell is used.

An interesting discussion on the use of nouns as verbs http://english.stackexchange.com/questi ... d-as-verbs
