Proud Flesh & Amnion

Postby K~2 » Thu Jun 24, 2010 12:58 am

We had a filly that injured herself in January. Originally it was a benign injury and was treated with topical antibiotics. It started to build a large amount of proudflesh - so much that in February our vet came out and debrided it.

Reading various articles on the internet I was keen to try using amnion.

I started using Vulketan & Amnion on the wound shortly afterwords (we had a mare foal shortly afterwards).

The wound at the beginning (a little graphic).

The wound today.

We collected amnion from two more mares which are now stored in our freezer.

I got the instructions for processing here.

Wow what amazing healing - you (and the amnion) have done a great job!

Thanks so much for posting that article, very informative and valuable information.

Very cool! I've read about using amnion but never knew anyone that tried it. Her leg looks great now. Thanks for sharing :)
