Soft Heels

Postby Shannon » Fri Sep 24, 2010 10:05 pm

Anything that can be done for a horse with soft heels? Makes him sore, and reluctant to stride out, and he's not out in wet conditions or a soggy stall...

I don't know about soft heeels but gelatin puts a hell of a hoof on horses. and it's not expensive.

Google " Great Lakes Gelatin"

I have used Pure Spirits of Gum Turpentine on soft soles and heels. Only paint every other day, at most, every 4 days is usually plenty. Make sure to paint lightly, though, and do not get it on the skin.
