2013 St. Leger winner pedigree, Leading Light

Tail female to Monarchy, Round Table's full sister. ND x Mr. P cross.

Sire is Montjeu, who is Sadler's Wells out of a Top Ville mare (Top Ville is an excellent chasing and jumping line). Top Ville has Charlottesville, Prince Chevalier son, as dam sire, also an excellent chasing line. Tail female is 1-u to a Prince Chevalier mare, also an excellent chasing line. The mare Tidra has Prince Bio, another son of Prince Rose, and Monarchy is Princequillo, the third great son of Prince Rose. Montjeu also has Val de Loir through Tennyson whose sire's dam line is to Queenie, and excellent chasing line; and Grey Sovereign through Zedaan, which means Nasrullah.

On the bottom, the mare is the US bred Dance Parade. Gone West x River Jig. Of course, Gone West has Nashua, and River Jig is by Irish River, a son of Riverman, with a touch of Herod through Klairon and tail female to Source Sucree. River Jig's dam was a Nijinsky mare.

Given the amount of Prince Rose and his sons on top, and the amount of Nasrullah throughout, is it possible that this is a modern day version of the Princequillo/Nasrullah nick at work, as well as the Mr. P x ND?

We all know where the stamina came from.

I came across this excerpt from a book by Ken McLean that talks about the Nasrullah/Princequillo nick.

Only in that the Montjeu-Dance Parade cross exhibits a roughly similar degree of aptitudinal extremes up close in the pedigree to that characteristic of the Princequillo/Nasrullah cross. Incidentally, Top Ville finished first and Irish River 3d in the 1979 Pr. Lupin (2100m).
